The Weekly Roundup (July 13th-19th)

Well the weather isn't quite as amazing as it was last weekend to be heading out to the beach. Thats ok though there is so much going on you wont even be thinking about it- or getting burnt like myself last Saturday. Im throughly impressed by this line up of events, there are things happening for people of all ages and abilities. Check it out: 


Owen Sound Farmers Market

Owen Sound Farmers market is a great place to meet your farmers and buy your food every Sat morning all year.

Mixed Media/Collage/Painting Funshop

A playful course with a focus on personal art and experiment with different mixed media techniques. Students are encouraged to bring a black and white photo of their home, a persona or and adored pet to incorporate.

Harbourfest
Saturday July 13th, 11am-10pm
Harbourfest is a one-day, rain-or-shine event that will draw crowds to Owen Sound's inner harbour for food, drinks, live entertainment & fun family activities.
The 'Main Stage' will be on the east harbour wall, in front of Mudtown Station Brewery & Restaurant, with a fully-licensed area to sample local brews & enjoy performers all day long - including Stacey Renee on stage at 6 PM and AC/DC tribute band, Who Made Who hitting the stage at 8 PM.

Live Music

Jazzmyns Restaurant
Come to Jazzmyn's every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening from 8:00pm to midnight for live entertainment. There is a different line-up every night.

Harbour Nights Concert Series
Sunday July 14th, 7-8:30pm

Concerts take place at the beautiful inner-harbour behind Owen Sound's Visitor Centre. Please bring your lawn chair or blanket to enjoy the occasion. In the event of rain, the concert may be moved indoors to the Owen Sound Legion auditorium, at 1450 2nd Avenue West. There is no admission charge for Harbour Nights concerts, although donations are gratefully accepted.

Billy Bishop Ghost Walks

History Walks the streets of Owen Sound! This is not your typical sidewalk crawl. The stories of the famous and infamous are animated as you stroll through the city to uncover the strange and magnificent tales of Owen Sound. This walk is aimed at those 12+ and can walk comfortably about 4 km.

Tuesday, July 9th it's OPEN MIC night with our host Aaron Top and no feature band yet so hit us up it interested for the 8:15 slot for a 1/2 hour! Come support and enjoy the great music! C'mon out and show us what you're working on! Pizza from Justin's Oven available. It's been really busy and great fun with both bands and songwriters. FREE event. NOT just for musicians but a night to go out and enjoy great local talent for free or just hang out with friends! There will be full band backline set up for musicians to use, but please bring your own guitar if you can (we do have a house guitar if needed). See you here!

Immerse yourself in the magic of blue. Spend 2 days exploring an easy to use indigo dye vat incorporating the japanese patterning techniques of shibori. There is no experience needed with dying and sewing as there are no mistakes, only wonderful surprises.

Orchestra North Performs @ Grey Roots

School may be out for the summer, but Orchestra North is learning all about music making with players from across Canada. On July 18th, come hear the Orchestra North Junior program perform at the School House in Moreston Heritage Village at 11:30 a.m. Explore the historic building and listen in on violin and cello performances. At 12:00 pm, Orchestra North's virtuosic Academy Brass Ensemble will perform at the Bandstand.

Silver Band Ring Workshop with Morag Budgeon

Summer Scrabble

On the third Monday of the month, come out to the library for summer scrabble fun. We will be hosting friendly Scrabble games in the auditorium on June 20th, July 18th, and August 15th. There are Scrabble boards available, but may want to bring your own just to be safe.

Yoga in the Cave

In this class, we will incorporate a nice blend of slow, gentle movement and stretching, pranayama (breath), restoration and release work, all while enjoying the wellness and energy benefits of the salt cave.
This class is wonderful for most levels as long as getting up and down onto a Yoga mat is accessible.

An Evening with Colin Linden

Moon Music: Apollo 11 at 50

Mudtown Records presents Moon Music: Apollo 11 at 50, a 50th anniversary viewing of original footage of the historic Apollo 11 moon landing from July 19th 1969 along with a live, original ambient soundtrack provided by Josh Richardson and members of the Silent Film Ensemble.
This is an outdoors, weather permitting event. Please bring blankets, or chairs for seating.
